Who can be against us? Lodovico Agostini (1534-1590): Eleva Domine (SSATTB) [Canones et echo sex vocibus, 1572]

Nr. 5 of Canones et echo sex vocibus, 1572. This is the second motet in Canones et echo sex vocibus that celebrates the victory in the Battle of Lepanto in 1571 (Victoria in bello navali, quo selym classis omnis funditus periit)

This time the Cantus 2 sings an ostinato with the words Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos? (If God is with us, who can be against us?)

Sebastián de Vivanco (c. 1551-1622): Missa Super octo tonos (SATB) (2021 Edition)

One of the most extraordinary masses by Vivanco, based on the eight plainchant tones. The Hosanna is the true climax of the work (not the Agnus Dei as usual, which is scored for five voices), an astonishing tour de force with a double canon scored for eight voices.
