Martin Peudargent (c. 1525/30-d. after 1587) was a Flemish composer in the service of the Duke of Kleve as Kapellmeister. In his first work, the Liber primus sacrarum cantionum, published in Dusseldorf in 1555, he referred to himself as ‘musicus’ in the court of Duke Wilhelm V of Jülich-Kleve-Berg in Düsseldorf.
We are proud to announce the release of the complete edition of the Liber primus sacrarum cantionum by Martin Peudargent, containing twelve motets, eleven for five voices and the massive Domine, ne in furore tuo for six voices in five parts. The first motet in the collection is the beautiful five-voice motet Pater noster / Ave Maria, scored for SAATB.
